November 14, 2007 - A Long Time Ago in a Mushroom Kingdom Far, Far Away

Super Mario Galaxy is probably the most amazing gaming experience of 2007. That is all.

Nearly a month has gone by since my last post. I've found myself getting busier and busier these days and with the temperature dropping rapidly I find myself compelled to stay indoors where I have very little room to be adventurous and find new things to photograph. I did manage to sneak myself out of the house at one point to explore the nearby park. Despite being surrounded by many lively things, I couldn't help but be drawn to the only object no longer living. It was a tree branch sticking just out of the surface of the lake that still retained a handful of its leaves. What I thought was interesting was that even though this area was surrounded by constantly ducks and geese making waves, the water surrounding the dead branch was still practically motionless. As I stare more and more at the branch, I am only reminded of myself. Recently I've felt a lot like the lonely branch in the lake. No matter how much I seem to do, it just seems like everything is at a complete standstill. Hopefully that feeling is just the calm before the storm in my life that I've been looking for.
What a coincidence. Here comes the rain.

One door, one chance; it's something we fight for in life, whether it's a job, a relationship, or even an opportunity to do something daring to realize that our lives are just fleeting moments in the history of time. I've been searching for open doors to different areas of my life and for the past few years, I've looked for an open opportunity to learn about the inner workings of my creative mind and musical musings. Finally, I have found a door that will lead me to new and amazing things.
The door is locked but to open it, I have eighty-eight keys.

Have you ever heard the phrase, "Time flies by when you're having fun"? I'm sure you have and I'm also sure you've experienced it for yourself. A gathering with your closest friends will seem like a mere instance in the day while every second in the office often times feel like an eternity. Over the past weekend, I finally began taking music lessons, learning one of my favorite instruments (which I will get into at another time). As a beginner I encountered countless mistakes and frustrations; but never have I been so in love with learning something new. Last night, I only meant to meant to practice for about half an hour before sleep but it turned out I ended up practicing for about two hours and getting into bed sometime after 3:00 AM.
Love hurts no matter what angle of it you're looking at.

If it's one thing I don't think I have enough these days is contact with others. I guess I'm just stating the obvious here, but it's something that's been bothering me. Not too long ago I spent my days living in Santa Barbara where contact with friends were constant, whether it was living, having classes, and even working with them. Flash forward to today. Now I'm up in the Bay Area, still looking for work, and the friends I have spent the best years of my life with are now miles and miles away. I am somewhat saddened by this drastic change but I realize I'm only a phone call or an e-mail away from contact with others. The thought alone is uplifting and encouraging but the part that's bothering me is the fact that in many instances I'm always the one making the contact and not the other way around.
Just like you, I'm only a phone call away.

Welcome to the Shoreline Iteration, my little spot on the web. After all these years of doing graphic and web work, I've finally gotten around to making my own website. Here you will find some blogging, photography, and DJ mixes of mine. I hope you enjoy your stay here. Questions? Comments? Critiques? Feel free to contact me about anything even if you just want to say hello!
The image you see to the left is a photograph I took in San Francisco near one of the beach areas. I went out that night with a friend with no definite plans. All we had was my camera equipment, a good head on our shoulders, and a sense of adventure. Every twist and turn down the road led to new surprises. During the night, San Francisco takes on a whole different vibe than during the day. Despite being originally from the Bay Area, I've hardly had the chance to explore the city at night and it was definitely something else. It's nights like these that remind me that spontaneously diving head first into something in life with no plans or preparation can be extremely exhilarating. If you haven't gone on an adventure in awhile I suggest you grab a friend and then think of a place where you would want to explore.
Don't think too hard. Just go.
P.S. Listeners of the Public Address series will be glad to know Public Address 003 is also up for download. You can now grab it in the DJing section. :)
